Adult Social Care at East Riding of Yorkshire Council are introducing a new day opportunities framework in April 2025.

This framework will help to shape day opportunities within the East Riding and provide even more activities for people that attend.

The Adult Social Care team have designed a survey to hear directly from the public. The team are looking for feedback on the day opportunities already provided and plan to use the survey to improve their offer moving forward.

What is a day opportunity?

Day opportunities are an important part of East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s adult social care offer to help people maintain wellbeing and live more independently.

Day opportunities can be anything ranging from fitness classes and lunch clubs to reading groups and volunteering.

Day opportunities help people find activities suited to their lifestyle. Some of the benefits of these opportunities include assisting people with learning new skills, making new friends, building confidence, getting out and about, or perhaps finding employment.

What is the survey?

To prepare for the new framework, it is important for East Riding of Yorkshire Council to hear what people who use these services think about the current range of day opportunities provided. It is also important to find ways to improve these opportunities for people and this survey is a way to collect that feedback.

How can the voice be heard of people who use these services?

In order to shape the future of adult social care day opportunities, members of the public are invited to complete the below survey.

This survey is for people who:

  • Currently use a day opportunity
  • Are the carer or guardian of someone who currently uses a day opportunity
  • Are interested in using a day opportunity in the future

The survey is now live and will be open until Wednesday, 4 December.

Councillor Johnathan Owen, East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s cabinet member for adults, health and care, said: ‘’As a council we want to provide the best day opportunities possible to people who utilise these services.

‘’The Adult social care team are working hard to ensure that this survey collects the fundamental data needed to create a picture of our current day opportunities, whilst capturing the changes that people wish to see.’’
